LEGO has wisely delayed the retirement of one new Hogwarts Castle set

The LEGO Group has made the smart decision to postpone the retirement of one of its new Hogwarts Castle sets, ensuring more of the new modular sections will be available concurrently.

76430 Hogwarts Castle Owlery is one of three Wizarding World sets to receive an extension to its production cycle this month, moving from a December 2025 retirement date to July 2026. That’s an extra seven months on LEGO Store shelves for one of the first sections of what the LEGO Group is calling ‘the most detailed Hogwarts ever’, which is continuing in January 2025 with three new sets.

It’s a shrewd move because it gives new fans hopping on the Harry Potter bandwagon in 2026 chance to catch up with the entire series without resorting to the aftermarket. And given how long some of the previous modular Hogwarts systems have remained in production, it wouldn’t be terribly surprising to see the Owlery – along with the Boathouse and Potions Class, both also scheduled to retire by July 2026 – receive further extensions.

Also moving from December 2025 retirement dates as of this month are 76429 Talking Sorting Hat and 76424 Flying Ford Anglia, which will now leave production by the end of 2026 and 2027 respectively. That suggests both of those 2024 releases are proving to be strong sellers. No surprises for the Ford Anglia – it’s a cheap and accessible entry point – but it looks like 76429 Talking Sorting Hat’s high price isn’t putting people off.

The full rundown of retiring LEGO Harry Potter sets now also includes the January 2025 releases, all but one of which are staying on shelves into 2027 as things stand. Only 76443 Hagrid & Harry’s Motorcycle Ride is currently scheduled to retire by the end of 2026. I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
