LEGO Disney rumoured set could be first foray into popular film

The latest LEGO Disney rumour suggests that the theme could be journeying to a well-loved film for the very first time.

Inside Out came out in 2015, with a sequel on the way later this year. As of yet, there have never been any LEGO sets based on the animated film, centred around emotions giving humanoid form and working together to control the human body. Now, however, according to rumours reported by Instagram user 1414FalconFan, the movie series could finally be getting translated into brick form.

43248 The Cubes of Emotions Vice-Versa (which is translated from a listing in French, so unlikely to be the set’s final name in English) is believed to cost $34.99 for its 394 pieces. That’s a pretty steep price per piece, even when compared to other LEGO Disney licensed sets like 40708 Mini Disney Ariel’s Castle, which is $39.99 for 557 pieces. That could mean that the main appeal of the rumoured set is the minifigures.

Indeed, the colourful characters from Inside Out are sure to appeal if the minifigure designs are done right. Each one is a humanoid figure, with features in a colour that relates to the emotion they represent. The main character from the first movie, Joy, is yellow with blue hair, conveying vibrancy, while her counterpart, Sadness, is entirely blue.

There are even more characters on their way for the sequel that could spark some interesting minifigure designs as well, including the orange-hued Anxiety, the dark blue and purple Ennui, the teal Embarrassment, and the pink, sparkly Envy. Having minifigures where every part of their is a uniform colour could lead to some fun recoloured parts, as well as some unique new elements, such as Joy’s sparkly blue hair or the spiked locks of newcomer Anxiety.

Check out what each of the known characters looks like in the teaser trailer below, offering some fodder to imagine what the rumoured minifigures could look like. Of course, these rumours are all speculation for now; we won’t know if a LEGO Inside Out set is coming at all or what it includes until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
