New LEGO Doctor Strange and Iron Man sets out now, but no mechs

Two of the planned five LEGO Marvel 2022 sets have gone on sale online and in-store, but there’s still no word on if or when the remaining three will be available.

76202 Wolverine Mech Armor, 76203 Iron Man Mech Armor and 76204 Black Panther Mech Armor were all unveiled back in November, before disappearing from LEGO.com in early December. The LEGO Group quickly confirmed that they’d been postponed indefinitely over a ‘stability issue’, stating that it was ‘looking into solutions’ to determine ‘new launch timing’.

We’ve heard nothing since, however, leaving the fate of the trio of new mechs – which include among them the first regular Wolverine minifigure since 2014 – up in the air. For now, the only two new LEGO Marvel sets for superhero fans in 2022 are 76205 Gargantos Showdown and 76206 Iron Man Figure, both of which are available to order from today.

The former is based on the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which arrives in cinemas on May 6. As well as the eponymous tentacled monster, you’ll also cop minifigures of America Chavez, Wong and Doctor Strange for £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99.

Retailing just a little higher at £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 is 76206 Iron Man Figure, an Infinity Saga set inspired by the Mark 43 armour. Comprised of 381 pieces, the buildable action figure includes a display plaque – but no minifigures.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
