Some LEGO DREAMZzz Grimspawn are strangely familiar

LEGO DREAMZzz’ many Grimspawn figures are mostly small and generic, apart from a select few in 71460 Mr. Oz’s Spacebus.

The latest original LEGO DREAMZzz pits dream warriors against nightmarish monsters, including the Grimspawn. Using the new figure element, these dark characters are fairly similar to each other throughout the upcoming sets – apart from in 71460 Mr. Oz’s Spacebus.

Looking at the top of the box of 71460 Mr. Oz’s Spacebus, the five Grimspawn all have a unique name and three seem to be referencing classic LEGO themes.

Denny and Benny

Equipped with a familiar jetpack and helmet, Denny seems to be a reference to Classic Space minifigures. While they could be a parody of The LEGO Movie’s Benny, Lenny, Jenny and Kenny from 70841 Benny’s Space Squad could fit just as well.

Captain Bedbeard and Captain Redbeard

The iconic Captain Redbeard from LEGO Pirates appears to have inspired Grimspawn Captain Bedbeard, adding a sleep-adjacent adjective to the name appropriately. The LEGO Pirates reference figure is wielding a cutlass and a pistol.

Flight Knight and Fright Knight

While LEGO Castle faction Fright Knights’ name is already perfect for the nightmarish villains of LEGO DREAMZzz, the Flight Knight in 71460 Mr. Oz’s Spacebus is focused on staying airborne instead.

Proper Chopper and Susan

Also with two unique names, but not referencing a classic LEGO theme as far as we can tell, are Propper and Chopper with an axe and Susan with a terrifying appearance contrasting the simplistic name.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
