A LEGO Fantastic Four minifigure could be coming sooner than expected

A long-awaited Fantastic Four minifigure could be on its way sooner than first thought, thanks to a certain web-slinging friend.

Marvel’s Spidey and Friends has been the source of unlikely minifigures, as more and more characters join the animated Spidey’s motley crew of heroes. We’ve already seen cartoon-style figures for Ms. Marvel, Doctor Octopus, and Rhino, all of whom have not appeared elsewhere in the LEGO Marvel theme.

While some fans of the quad team might have been hoping that the upcoming movie might spark some dedicated LEGO sets, it seems that Spidey and Friends could beat them to the punch. As spotted in the most recent trailer for the series shows that The Thing from Fantastic Four will be joining the show, complete with the recognisable blue jumpsuit of his team.

It’s worth noting that any The Thing minifigures we get will likely not be as realistic as some might want. As Spidey and his Amazing Friends is a children’s animated show, the figures are made in the same stylised manner. For example, Spidey himself has wide, cartoonish eyes, while villains like the Green Goblin and Rhino look like little more than regular men playing dress up.

Nonetheless, the all-orange Thing could be a fun minifigure in any style, particularly as his large size could see him become a big-fig, a first for the Spidey and his Amazing Friends sub-theme. Even the Hulk comes in regular minifigure size (only entirely green and with muscles printed on his chest. Of course, none of this speculation around The Thing is confirmed yet and we’ll need to wait for official confirmation from the LEGO Group before we can say anything for sure.

Spidey and his Amazing Friends will air on August 18 on Disney Channel and Disney Junior, with an expected later release on Disney+ too.
