Rumoured LEGO Fantastic Four set should include a unique minifigure

There’s at least one unique minifigure that should be included in the rumoured LEGO Marvel Fantastic Four: First Steps movie set.

Recent rumours suggest that at least one LEGO Marvel set based on the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps movie may be on its way in 2025. 76316 Galactus vs The Fantastic Four is said to arrive at some point next year, although that information should be treated with scepticism for now.

However, we can at least speculate as to the potential minifigure line-up of such a LEGO set at this stage, thanks to new details released regarding the film. Disney and Marvel has revealed an official synopsis for Fantastic Four: First Steps, which may hint at some of the characters that could be included in 76316 Galactus vs The Fantastic Four.

Details regarding Fantastic Four: First Steps have appeared on Disney’s own press site and not only mention Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing by name, but also the world devourer Galactus and his enigmatic herald, the Silver Surfer.

The former will be voiced by Ralph Ineson, while the latter will be played by Julia Garner, with the character of Norrin Radd usually portrayed as a male from the planet Zenn-La. The Silver Surfer has only ever appeared in digital form in the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game to date and has yet to appear as a physical minifigure.

A potential minifigure of the Silver Surfer could be a unique opportunity for the LEGO Marvel design team to do something truly unique with the character in terms of production techniques. A look at multiple C-3PO minifigures over the last few years should give some idea as to the direction the team could go in to replicate the herald’s shiny metallic appearance.

Not only would the inclusion of a possible Silver Surfer minifigure be the first of its kind, but so would potential minifigures of the Fantastic Four themselves, which would seem to be a given in their own set. Marvel’s First Family also appeared as part of the playable roster in the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game and The Thing has popped up in the animated Spidey and His Amazing Friends show.

Fantastic Four: First Steps will be the 37th MCU movie to date and is also confirmed to be ‘set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world.’ The official synopsis goes on to mention that ‘if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.’

Fantastic Four: First Steps is due to be released on July 25, 2025.
