LEGO FORMA products to ship soon

The latest update from the LEGO FORMA team has confirmed that the products are about to ship.

In an e-mail to those who backed the LEGO FORMA theme during the Indiegogo kickstarter pre-order, the imminent shipping has been confirmed. “We are happy to share that the production of your LEGO FORMA products are close to being done. As planned, we will be ready to ship the products by the beginning of the new year,” says the latest update.

That suggests that fans will start to receive the sets in the first week of January, if not before.

“This was the fastest product ever to get to market from the LEGO Group,” LEGO Creative PlayLab’s Vice President, Tom Donaldson, said in November. “It started with a serendipitous connection between an individual designer and a marketeer. We give our designers 10% of their time to use as they see fit, and this designer was playing with kinetic sculptures and organic forms. The marketeer was looking at how to evolve one of our product lines and the connection was set. The process was very iterative – every two weeks exploring new designs, new market opportunities and testing with consumers wherever possible.”
