LEGO Fortnite player takes in-game Star Wars content to a whole new level

LEGO Fortnite is really what you make of it – and what some people are making of it is some seriously detailed LEGO Star Wars-inspired creations.

Building in LEGO Fortnite is a huge part of the gameplay. The resources you gather can do a lot more than create simple shelters, laying the groundwork for entire villages to house your NPCs that can help you on your explorations. Outside of the practicalities, you can also build to your heart’s desire, pulling from some of your favourite LEGO sets or even real-world creations.

It’s not surprising, then, that it’s taken less than a month for a LEGO Fortnite player to create a stunning replica of a brick-built Star Destroyer. Sharing their creation on reddit, u/cxt_bro has done just that – to incredible effect.

Based on 2014’s 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer, the pictures show the digital version supported on a beam but cxt_bro explains in the comments that it is a self-standing creation once they put a balloon inside to make it float. You might need to finesse this if you try it for yourself, as other commenters reported facing issues with the balloons causing the Star Destroyer to become unbalanced.

Every detail of 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer has been captured perfectly, from the circular shield domos at the top to the layered sections that make up the main body of the Star Destroyer.

Even with the limited Star Wars characters that are available to play as in LEGO Fortnite right now, you can build your own Star Destroyer as a Stormtrooper, Kylo Ren, or even Anakin Skywalker himself. There’s plenty more you can do to bring Star Wars into LEGO Fortnite, with cxt_bro already working on an AT-AT that you can just about spot in the background of their screenshots.

LEGO Fortnite is available to play now as a free game mode within Fortnite, having launched on December 7.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
