LEGO Fortnite skins: Every skin available in LEGO Fortnite and how to get a free one

LEGO Fortnite is well underway and, if you’ve already explored the different gameplay options, you might be wondering how to customise your in-game appearance.

Being able to build, explore, and even fight in LEGO form in LEGO Fortnite isn’t all that the new game can do; there are already hundreds of LEGO Fortnite skins available in one shape or form, so your in-game character can take on a minifigure appearance while playing. These are only available in LEGO Fortnite and don’t carry through into Battle Royale or other game modes.

Here’s everything you need to know about LEGO Fortnite skins and how to get them.

How many LEGO Fortnite skins are there?

Epic Games has confirmed that over 1,200 Fortnite skins will get turned into a LEGO version. This process is already underway, but only 317 LEGO skins are currently complete. The plan is for the other 900 or so to be finished off with custom-modelled elements and fully detailed decals over time, starting off with the most iconic styles, such as Cuddly Team Leader, Fish Stick, and Skull Trooper. You can already use hundreds of other more basic LEGO skins but they just appear slightly less detailed – for now.

It’s also worth noting that only skins that fit within the “E for Everyone” section of Fortnite‘s in-game rating system will be getting LEGO versions, to keep the full library appropriate for players of all ages. What’s more, many previous Battle Pass skins have not yet been LEGO-fied, presumably because their lack of availability in comparison to the more easily attainable item shop skins.

However, it does include some LEGO Marvel and Star Wars skins – some with designs that differ from their physical minifigure counterparts. With quite literally hundreds of LEGO skins available, we won’t list them all for you here, but some highlights include Spider-Man Zero, various versions of Clone Troopers, Padmé Amidala, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Boba Fett, to name but a few.

How to get LEGO Fortnite skins

Every skin that you already have access to you in your regular library will now show up in your LEGO Fortnite library for no extra cost. Otherwise, you’ll need to either buy the skins that you want using the in-game V-Bucks currency or take part in tasks to win them for free – although this is rare. Right now, you can complete activities like opening a certain amount of presents during Winterfest or completing certain event challenges.

If you already have skins that you want to see in digital LEGO, you can simply open your locker. Any that are greyed out are not yet available in LEGO form, or you can simply select the LEGO version to play with. You can also check if a skin you’re buying has a LEGO version by scrolling to the details page in the shop.

Linking your Epic Games and LEGO Insiders account also unlocked you a free skin on December 7 to celebrate the launch of LEGO Fortnite. All you need to do is sign in to your Epic Games account, head to ‘Account management’ and then ‘Apps and Accounts’. From there, click ‘Link with LEGO account’ and either sign in or create a new LEGO Insiders account. You’ll automatically see the free Explorer Emilie Outfit in your library.

It’s not yet known if there will be any other free skins to pick up but Epic Games generally rarely give away free skins, although free gliders and other items do pop up every now and then.
