LEGO Fortnite includes touching tribute to late NINJAGO voice actor

LEGO Fortnite’s latest NINJAGO update introduced a ton of content, as well as a touching tribute to a late voice actor from the TV show.

Fans have had several days to explore NINJAGO: Rise of the Ninja since it launched on December 11, made up of new elemental abilities, outfits, weapons, builds, premium rewards and more. Now that players have had time to dig into what’s there, a tribute to the late Kirby Morrow, who voiced Cole and various other NINJAGO characters and passed away on November 18, 2020.

The statue of Cole with his original hair (dating back to when Morrow voiced him) can be found in the Earth Sanctum, and has been confirmed by Carol Trang, the Community Manager at LEGO Games, to be a tribute to the late actor.

“I have been anxiously waiting for the community to find this and I’m so touched by the reception,” wrote Carol in response to fans highlighting the tribute on X. “Our goal was to do right by the fandom with these little tributes.”

Fans have heaped on the praise for this and other nods to NINJAGO lore in the Fortnite update, with one X user writing: “You guys really outdid yourselves with this update. All the small details, tributes, and references to things both well-known and obscure have been a treat and the care put into the experience is incredible!!! We appreciate all your work a TON.”

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
