LEGO Fortnite’s new mech teases matching monster model

An additional product image for LEGO Fortnite 77078 Mecha Team Leader is teasing another Fortnite model that would pair perfectly with it.

LEGO Fortnite is still relatively new to the portfolio, and its hidden Easter eggs so far have been limited. That’s about to change in 77078 Mecha Team Leader, as an additional image from a Target listing has showcased the interior of the chest cockpit.

The Mecha Team Leader minifigure can sit in a blue chair, but when the torso is closed up, a pair of stickers showcase screens of a battle taking place outside. That battle has none other than the Devourer, matching the Chapter 1 Season 9 event where Mecha Team Leader appeared, and inspired the set accordingly.

It’s a fun reference on its own, but the detail goes one step further by depicting the Devourer as a Brick-built model that seems entirely possible to realise as a physical set in the future. You can even make out the Ice Castle on its back, extending off the sticker’s edge. It’s seemingly been upscaled compared to its in-game appearance

The Devourer on this sticker appears smaller in scale than 77078 Mecha Team Leader, and this may be a hint at a future LEGO Fortnite set. That’s only speculation on our part, but it seems strange to go to the effort of designing a LEGO Devourer for just a stickered reference.

For now, 77078 Mecha Team Leader launches on August 1 and is available to pre-order now. Three other new LEGO Fortnite sets will be released on June 1.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
