LEGO gifts-with-purchase have a new, clearer box design
Two upcoming LEGO gifts-with-purchase have showcased and confirmed a new design for the boxes of promotional products, but not all of them.
Beyond both being upcoming gifts, there’s a common aspect between 40584 Birthday Diorama and 40583 Houses of the World 1. The boxes for both include a present icon on the front with the background being made up of colourful strips.
With this appearing on two upcoming GWPs, it seems safe to say that this is a new design for promotional products, and we’ll likely see this again in the future as at least three upcoming GWPs for the Houses of the World series are confirmed.
However, one 2023 GWP didn’t use this design, proving that the new layout isn’t required for gifts. 40580 Blacktron Cruiser used a box design similar to the original set for nostalgia, proving that there are exceptions to the new layout.
At the time of writing, official details of upcoming 2023 GWPs only include the rest of the Houses of the World collection. Having a uniform design applied to the majority of the promotional items could make them easier to distinguish from standard sets, despite known exceptions.
