LEGO Harry Potter makes the Flying Ford Anglia interesting again in 2026
Take flight with Harry and Ron like never before in LEGO Harry Potter 76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia, which somehow manages to make this veteran vehicle interesting again.
We’ve had plenty of LEGO Harry Potter Ford Anglias over the years, but 76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia is easily the biggest. Rather than being built to minifigure scale, there are custom brick-built characters to sit inside the car. Made up of 868 pieces, this is the magical flying car like you’ve never seen it – and now put to the test in our review.

76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia breaks new ground for the LEGO Harry Potter theme. Where we’ve seen the car before, it’s typically been at minifigure scale, as in 76424 Flying Ford Anglia or as a minor part of a wider build, like the microscale version in 71043 Hogwarts Castle.
Now, 76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia puts it in the centre stage and at a far larger scale than we’ve ever seen it before. While it’s not as detailed of a car build as vehicles from themes like Technic or Icons with a similar piece count (think 42223 1966 Ford GT40 MKII Race Car or 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna), it does pick out movie details that bring the car to life effectively.
The grill and hoodlights along the front of the car almost seem like a facial expression, in line with how the car’s magic quite literally gives it autonomy in the Harry Potter franchise. The car is still squarely in its domesticated era, before it runs away into the woods and sustains damage, but there are instances of the magic taking effect.

That’s certainly felt in the play functions of 76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia, which take a knack to get used to but are pretty realistic once you’ve got them down. Press the rear bumber to prep the boot, then the front bumper to fire the doors open and the brick-built trunk in the boot out of the car.

The speed with which the trunk flies out is exactly like the movie. You almost expect Ron and Harry to be turfed out as well, but the realism doesn’t quite carry through into the buildable characters.
They’re designed to stay firmly in the car, with no posable limbs. Indeed, aside from the trunk and door functions, 76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia is a set that’s certainly geared towards display. Leaving the doors open exposes the lack of detail on the lower halves of the body, underlining that they’re best viewed when the car is closed.

The faces are certainly expressive enough to catch the eye, although it would be fun if you could switch them out for calmer expressions, tracking the pair on the flight across the UK. Bonus points have to go to the tiny Hedwig in the backseat and her thousand-yard stare as well. She really does watch you no matter where you put 76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia on the shelf.
The roof also lifts off to allow for access to the interior if you prefer, but there’s really no need. As noted above, 76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia attempts to recreate the car and the scene for a more mature audience, one more interested in display than play.

With that in mind, the price tag of £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 feels in line with what you’d expect for 76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia. It balances a fine line between movie accuracy by capturing some of the personality of the car (for want of a better word) and playing with style to create something wholly new with the cartoonish versions of the characters inside the car.
76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia feels like a rewarding choice for anyone wanting a LEGO Harry Potter display that doesn’t necessarily want to embark on a sprawling Hogwarts Castle. It would pair nicely with 76461 Cornish Pixie and 76429 Talking Sorting Hat, bringing some Potter magic to a LEGO collection in an affordable yet gratifying package.
Our honest opinion: 76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia manages to make a well-trodden part of LEGO Harry Potter interesting again, with play features that really feel like magic.
