LEGO Icons 10335 The Endurance sparks curiosity throughout community
This year’s Black Friday set – LEGO Icons 10335 The Endurance – has sparked inquisitive and knowledgable minds across the LEGO community.
Following the official reveal of 10335 The Endurance and its corresponding 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat gift-with-purchase earlier this week, the history enthusiasts in the LEGO community have been rife with excitement, eager to pick up the new set later this month.
While the historically significant ship might not be as exciting as the likes of 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion for many, we’ve discovered that the Endurance recreation is a match made in heaven for much of the online community. Some, including Neil Jackman on X, are already devising excuses to pick up the set when it launches on November 29.
Over on Reddit, many users were eager to share facts and figures about the ship – showcasing their knowledge – whereas Submarine Races chimed in with a quick comparison to manage fears over inaccurate masts and sails in the LEGO model, stating: “The rigging and proportions look pretty spot on, or at least as close as you can reasonably get with LEGO.”

The user even provided a comparative image, and it’s surprising to see just how close the LEGO Icons designers managed to get to the real ship, given the limitations of LEGO pieces.
“I have one spot for it, but there is already a Titanic-sized ship there,” says Yellow99TJ, referencing 10294 Titanic which this new set should display nicely next to. Alternatively, it’s a more affordable alternative to one of the biggest and most expensive LEGO builds of all time.
“I find it interesting that the set doesn’t come with any minifigures, but the GWP for the set comes with two,” comments Rosco311. 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat indeed includes minifigures of Sir Ernest Shackleton and photographer Frank Hurley. For history buffs, these minifigures may be must-haves but they’re much too big to display on 10335 The Endurance.

As many other comments point out, the scale of the GWP and the full set is entirely different by design but the similar colour scheme and historical background should still make them display well next to one another.
Heading back to X, Matt Burnell already has the perfect display space for 10335 The Endurance and they’re similarly eager to pick up the set once they’ve built a new shelf to place it on.
LEGO Icons 10335 The Endurance will be available to buy from November 29 for £229.99 / $269.99 / ?€269.99, with 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat as a gift-with-purchase while stocks last.
