LEGO Ideas 21335 Motorised Lighthouse’s motor is designed to be quiet

LEGO Ideas 21335 Motorised Lighthouse has a much quieter motor than its initial fan design thanks to one ingenious trick.

Fan designer of 21335 Motorised Lighthouse, Sandro Quattrini has taken to Instagram to share insight into the development of the new LEGO Ideas set and the differences between the initial project model and the final set design.

Most notable among the differences highlighted in his Instagram story is how the motor is integrated into the build. In the project, Sandro admits that the noise the motor made was noticeable, potentially distracting from the detailed model and its motorised functions.

To resolve this, Sandro reveals that the design was changed to allow for the use of rubber elements, dampening the noise of the motor accordingly.

Other changes showcased include easier access to the on and off switch, the decision to depict the lighthouse in minifigure scale and the hidden tower mechanism that allows access to the interior.

21335 Motorised Lighthouse is available now on the official online store for £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99 with 2,065 pieces including two minifigures, a unique Fresnel lens brick and a new colour for the 32-stud baseplate.
