LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale minifigure spotlight
Let’s take a closer look at the six minifigures included in LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale – because they’re truly something in more ways than one.
Despite being a 3,745-piece build, the minifigures of 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale are one of the highlights of the set. It’s rare to see a cast of six minifigures where every single one brings something new or exciting to the table – and each boasts an impressively detailed design.
An Orc rogue, Elf wizard, Dwarf cleric, Halfling fighter, Alax Jadescales the Dragonborn, and Ervan Soulfallen the human are officially included in LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale but, as we’ll soon find out, you can really do what you want with the pieces you’ve been given for your brick-built Dungeons & Dragons party.
You get a new piece, you get a new piece!

The minifigures have had some hefty design upgrades from their original counterparts and that’s in large part thanks to a number of new elements and accessories helping to kit them out accurately. Every one of the minifigures can act as a hero or a villain, with alternative expressions and even entire heads (more on that later) to do so.
There’s also several of what appear to be new torsos, including the intricately designed blue torso, complete with a packed belt, on the Orc rogue. The Orc’s sand blue head is also newly printed, with a toothy smile and dark circles around his eyes. There’s also what looks like a new silver shoulder armour element on the Halfling fighter, matching the silver gloves and armour on the torso too.
As well as these notable minifigure elements that we’ve spotted, there are also various new accessories, including but not limited to a golden flail and a shield with a displacer beast motif – and that’s just what we’ve noticed so far.

Extra minifigure heads capture the spirit of Dungeons & Dragons

The inclusion of extra male and female minifigure heads for every character, as well as no skin colour on the arms, legs, and torsos, means that the LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale minifigures are truly yours to make what you want with them. There are virtually endless party combinations that you can dream up by mixing and matching the elements to create what you will. This truly captures the role-playing nature of Dungeons & Dragons, where players and Dungeon Masters create characters as they please.
The return of LEGO VIDIYO

One of the most eye-catching minifigures has to be Alax Jadescales the Dragonborn. While red dragon is the name of the set, perhaps this smaller Dragonborn is a homage to the original green dragon, with a head that’s resurfaced from its original release in the now-retired theme of LEGO VIDIYO.
Versatility is the name of the game

The sheer variety of accessories and flexible minifigure parts, as noted above, is one of the main strengths of 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale. While there are six minifigures included, each can just as easily be a hero as a villain. Your Elf wizard can easily be a fighter, while your bard can turn into a warlock with a few short LEGO clicks.
The accessories, although not all new to the LEGO system, are truly impressive. Some of the ones we’ve noticed so far include (*deep breath*) a hooded lantern, a scimitar, a magical tome, a crystal staff, a yellow tooth dagger, a golden ring (borrowed from 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell), a lute, a crossbow, a health potion, a hammer, and a wealth of other medieval-style weapons. The rich lore of Dungeons & Dragons has been brought to life in the LEGO Ideas set, in no small part thanks to the attention to detail on the minifigures and accessories.
LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale will be available for LEGO Insiders from April 1 and launch widely on April 4. Those who purchase the £314.99 / $359.99 / €359.99 set before April 7 will also score a free Mimic Dice Box gift-with-purchase while stocks last.
