LEGO Ideas announces terms of service update

LEGO Ideas is updating its terms of service, making some people temporarily ineligible to participate in challenges and projects.

Currently, you only need to be at least 13 years old to create a LEGO Ideas profile, which is required to support and submit projects as well as take part in challenges, activities and crowd votes. From June 3, 2024, that’s changing as confirmed in a recent email sent to LEGO Ideas users.

As of June 4, you’ll need to be at least 16 years old to create or have a LEGO Ideas profile, it has been confirmed. This is due to new social media laws in certain regions which the LEGO Group are going to be following accordingly. This hopes to ensure that LEGO Ideas remains a safe, inspiring and legally compliant online platform.

Those who have a LEGO Ideas profile but are under 16 years old will find their profile closed by June 3. Before then, you can save your comments and submissions before they are deleted forever on June 3. Those 16 or over will have no problems and continue to use their profiles as normal.

Any LEGO Ideas projects supported by users who are under 16 will not see those support votes removed. Those who will have their profiles deleted this June are welcome to rejoin the platform when they are of appropriate age. You can read the full terms of service by clicking here, though the page has yet to be updated.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
