Meet Rhetoric, the newest Batman villain born from a LEGO contest

New Batman villain revealed, and it's from a LEGO contest

The winning design from the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight villain creation contest has been revealed, joining the DC universe in-game and in comics.

Earlier this summer, DC teamed up with the LEGO Group to launch a new villain creation contest, inviting fans to make a brand new enemy for Batman to face in the LEGO game and an official DC comic book.

Jenna Anderson, attending a DC panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, has revealed the winner. Rhetoric is the new villain, with their comic and in-game designs unveiled at the panel. Comic book editor Katie Kubert announced Rhetoric as the winner, but no further details have been shared at this time.

Rhetoric is depicted wearing a suit and tie with a black mask. Chains and multiple weapons are also on the character. Rhetoric will appear in Detective Comics #1113 and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight in post-launch content as promised in the contest.

However, Rhetoric is also confirmed to appear in a Batman and DC GO one-shot, which is a much more substantial start to this character's life in pop culture. Hopefully, the fan who designed Rhetoric will be revealed soon.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Additional content via the Mayhem Collection is coming this September. Additional sets to unlock in-game content are also out now, including 76330 Batman Logo.
