New LEGO Ideas botanical garden needs to keep one feature from LEGO Friends
A preview of the LEGO Ideas botanical garden has surfaced but with much still to see we can only hope one thing carries over from LEGO Friends.
While the early look at the upcoming LEGO Ideas model on LEGO.com has given us a glimpse at the exterior of Valentina’s transformed submission, it’s what we can’t see that may be more interesting.
You can currently pick up 41757 Botanical Garden, which looks to be much smaller than this new set. Beyond their subject matter, the two aren’t likely to be too comparable, but there is one thing the new model can take from the LEGO Friends build, and it covers the part of the set that we can’t see at all just yet. We can only make out a glimpse of the interior including a large tree with its leaves sticking up into the central dome structure.

Hopefully, we don’t have long to wait to find out more about this build, though the LEGO Group has since quickly removed this image from the splash page. The impressive 2023 LEGO Friends model isn’t quite as large as the LEGO Ideas set – from what we can tell – but it boasts a stunning interior populated with plants that use pieces in all kinds of inventive ways, which are all too important for any garden build.

From green saxophones to upturned fur collars, armour and even mohawks, the plants in 41757 Botanical Garden are one of the best parts of the set and you can find out more in our close look. Even the area outside the larger structure has some interesting features such as layered tiles to add depth to a nearby pond and the ever-useful pink varieties of LEGO frogs.
We’ve yet to see the inside of the LEGO Ideas set but the LEGO Friends set stands as an example of what can be done with a (likely) much more limited budget, footprint and a younger target demographic. We can only hope that the LEGO Ideas Botanical Garden lives up to and goes beyond the still-impressive LEGO Friends set’s varied collection of brick-built plants.
Further details for the LEGO Ideas Botanical Garden have yet to be confirmed but we’ll let you know as soon as we know more following today’s sudden preview.
