LEGO Ideas celebrates the launch of 21331 Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone

The first LEGO Ideas 2022 set, 21331 Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone, is out and the platform is hosting a Sonic-based event to celebrate.

The LEGO Ideas team have decided to start 2022 with an activity coinciding with a particular blue hedgehog. The new challenge, which is lasting for double the usual amount of time, promotes the latest model in the theme by exploring the past of Sonic the Hedgehog.

For the most recent activity, which closes on January 18, you’ll need to represent the speedy video game character with an early depiction of the character. That includes classic zones, pixel art and even Sonic enjoying a slice of his original era.

You might choose to be inspired by a selection of the entries submitted so far and use the minifigure or brick-built figures of 21331 Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone to include Dr. Eggman or the Badniks, the two enemy robots, in your build

Alternatively, you could dream up an expansion for the new LEGO Ideas set, which has slots to connect more of the same model to mix up the modular zone recreation, though there are plenty of other locations in the original Sonic the Hedgehog game and beyond to be inspired by.

21331 Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone is the latest LEGO Ideas set to launch after the success of the original pitch by Viv Grannell and is available now to purchase in-store and online. However, another model in the theme may be coming soon too.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
