LEGO Ideas makes gaming debut in LEGO 2K Drive

LEGO Ideas has made its gaming debut and 40448 Vintage Car’s fan designer might want to hop into LEGO 2K Drive soon.

40448 Vintage Car is now available in Unkie’s Emporium for 10,000 Brickbux as LEGO Ideas is the third theme to have a dedicated tab in the latest LEGO game. Fan designer Arne Jahnke’s model was released as a gift-with-purchase after winning a contest in 2021 and now has been picked as one of the newest vehicles in LEGO 2K Drive.

To our knowledge, this is the first time that a LEGO Ideas set has appeared in a game, though the theme has had plenty of game-inspired models and challenges.

In-game, 40448 Vintage Car is a street vehicle that matches its physical appearance identically. Notably, this is under its own LEGO Ideas tab on the store, rather than as a standalone creation as other sets are. There are several LEGO Friends cars in the store but there is no such LEGO Friends tab in LEGO 2K Drive.

At the very least, this should facilitate future LEGO Ideas entries in the game, provided any are planned. 40487 Sailboat Adventure could be another potential pick unless licensed models are contenders. There are LEGO Ideas models in the game already, but only as static props decorating Bricklandia, and not controllable vehicles. The debut of 40448 Vintage Car in the game as a full vehicle is an all-new level for LEGO Ideas in the gaming space.

Those diving into the game for its second season of the Year 1 Drive Pass can pick up 40448 Vintage Car in-game now along with several of the LEGO City 2K Drive vehicles from the three corresponding sets. However, those of you in the US might be able to pick one up for free.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
