LEGO Ideas Home Alone house set officially announced for release

The LEGO Ideas team has announced that beloved Christmas movie Home Alone is getting an official set release.

In a video streamed from the LEGO Group’s headquarters in Billund, Denmark, LEGO Ideas Design Manager Samuel Johnson and Engagement Manager Hasan Jensen have announced that Home Alone is joining the theme’s line-up. Alex Storozhuk submitted his concept to the LEGO Ideas platform. With 10,000 fellow fans having voted for his product idea, the LEGO Group has now announced that it will become an authentic product.

Interviewed by LEGO Ideas, Alex said: “I can’t even imagine holidays without Home Alone. This movie is very nostalgic and makes those warm childhood memories to come up every time. Last Christmas, we were watching it and had out Winter Village on display, I clearly remember the moment I asked myself – ‘Why is there no LEGO Home Alone set?’”

With a script from John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus, Home Alone became the highest grossing live action comedy of all time when it was released in 1990. Since then it has become a Christmas classic for children of the era, as they enjoy the wish fulfilment of Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister wishing his family away – only for a pair of burglars to burst his bubble and see him forced to violently defend his home.

The fan design for this set is pretty large, so it will be interesting to see if it follows other sizable LEGO Ideas releases like 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay and 21318 Tree House. Should it get a release in the run-up to Christmas, it is likely to prove a big hit.
