LEGO Ideas celebrates launch of 100th challenge

The 100th LEGO Ideas challenge has launched, with a new competition for fan builders to have their models exhibited in the LEGO House for a year.

The LEGO Ideas team has today launched its 100th challenge, reaching that lofty milestone with an all-new competition. Fan builders are in with a chance of having their winning designs chosen for display in the LEGO House in Billund, Denmark, plus they could also win one of three exclusive brick-built trophies.

The Exhibit Your Creativity in the LEGO House challenge features three different categories to enter, each of which is aimed at generating creativity and sparking imagination. Models for each category can be built with LEGO bricks or designed digitally, but must be able to be built physically.

Exhibit Your Creativity in the LEGO House

Kicking things off is If It Runs On Rails, a brief that’s looking for vehicle-based builds such as transportation for passengers and freight across the world. That could be a famous train from the past, a modern monorail or something new and futuristic.

Then there’s 20,000 Bricks Under the Sea, a category that aims to explore the ocean depths. Suggestions for fan-based designs include shadowy underwater creatures, speedy ocean vessels and even mythical sea creatures.

Finally, there’s Under the Microscope, a category that encourages builders to zoom in on an object and recreate its up-close details. That could be anything from a tiny, microscopic organism or the inner workings of an everyday machine.

Entry restrictions for the three categories states that all builds must be between 16x8 studs and 64x32 studs, be no higher than 60 bricks and no part of the model can overhang the 64x32 stud limit.

In addition, the LEGO Ideas team is encouraging fan builders to make their models even more interesting by personalising them, although that’s not a guarantee that those such designs will have more chance of being selected as a winner.

Exhibit Your Creativity in the LEGO House prizes 1024x576

The Grand Prize winner in each of the three catergories will snag themselves a bunch of LEGO sets including 21037 LEGO House, 40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute, 40501 The Wooden Duck, 40504 A Minifigure Tribute and two LEGO House tickets. Three runners-up each get their own 21037 LEGO House and 40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute sets, plus two LEGO House tickets.

What’s more, 75+ builds from each category that aren’t the Grand Prize or runner-up winners that are selected for display in the LEGO House will each receive a copy of 40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute and two LEGO House tickets.

The Grand Prize winner in each of the three categories will have their creations placed on display in the LEGO House for a whole year (like this year's winners shown below) and receive an exclusive brick-built trophy assembled by the LEGO House Master Builders.

Entries for the Exhibit Your Creativity in the LEGO House challenge are being accepted from June 4 to July 8, 2025, with the full list of successful winners announced no later than August 2026.
