LEGO Ideas launches new steam-powered competition

Inspired by LEGO Ideas 21356 River Steamboat, there’s a new competition for fan builders centred around steam-powered vehicles.

The LEGO Ideas team is calling for fan builders to build their own vision of a steam-powered vehicle, including anything from classic cars and fantasy futuristic airships to remakes of old-world classics. The only hard and fast rule is that it needs to be powered by steam (as well as all the usual LEGO guidelines listed here).

There’s plenty of inspiration for ideas already on the LEGO Ideas website, if you’re looking for a place to start, but the team encourages participants to put their own spin on their builds.

Once they’ve put the finishing touches on their build, you just need to take a few photos and share them to the LEGO Ideas team via this activity page. There’s no prize for this competition, but it’s a fun way to get involved with the community. You can build your submission using either physical bricks or digitally using BrickLink’s Studio.

The activity is live right now and will be open to submissions until Tuesday, June 24 at 6am EST (11am in the UK).

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
