It's official – the LEGO Ideas team still aren't eager to make a Shrek set despite fan demand, but there's still a glimmer of hope for ogre enthusiasts.
The latest LEGO Ideas results have confirmed that Ashnflash's Shrek project is not moving ahead for an official set, as well as 46 other submissions in the first 2024 LEGO Ideas review. You can click here to see what was approved for an official LEGO Ideas set from the latest review round.
For now, the iconic Dreamworks character still isn't getting a LEGO Ideas but rumours suggest that there's still a small amount of hope that still spells bad news for the LEGO Ideas users that have unsuccessfully pitched a Shrek set before.

Rumour has it that a How to Train Your Dragon set, timing suspiciously well with the live-action movie coming in 2025, is to launch at some point next year. It is said to depict a buildable Toothless figure. How to Train Your Dragon is a Dreamworks property adapting a book, much like Shrek.
The LEGO Group's partnership with Dreamworks also extends to the likes of the Camp Cretaceous sets, the Trolls: World Tour and Gabby's Dollhouse themes, According to rumours from a.clay.brick, it's only a matter of time until another iconic property is to be covered in a LEGO set.
Should the rumoured How to Train Your Dragon set be planned to release in time for the live-action movie (no matter what it's based on), it's a decent bit of synergy from the LEGO Group and Dreamworks. Take all LEGO rumours with caution until official confirmation.
With the rumour in mind, there's a fifth Shrek film on the way in 2025 and it may be that the LEGO Ideas team has had to reject the latest Shrek project as such a collaboration is already in the works, being developed in time for July 2026.
Such instances are one of the reasons why the LEGO Ideas team aren't able to approve some licensed projects. This consequently would mean that the many LEGO Ideas users who have pitched a Shrek project and earned 10,000 supporters wouldn't benefit from sales of non-LEGO Ideas Shrek models after years of submissions.
Absolutely nothing has been confirmed and this is only speculation based on rumours. The existing partnership with Dreamworks and reports of an extension in time for a current project still indicate that Shrek enthusiasts shouldn't give up hope of a LEGO ogre just yet though.
