LEGO Insiders replaces LEGO VIP from today

The LEGO VIP program will soon be no more as LEGO Insiders is replacing the long-running service today, but only for the better.

LEGO VIP is to transform into LEGO Insiders today, which is mostly a name and brand change that shouldn’t affect most existing members. Those who had a LEGO VIP membership don’t need to do anything – all of the changes are automatic and will combine accounts from LEGO Ideas and more into the service for a singular membership. That membership is still free though and more worthwhile than ever before.

No benefits from LEGO VIP have been removed, the only major change is that there’s a brand new way to earn points and you could have thousands just waiting to be redeemed. No one should have lost any points either, it’s overall a fresh coat of paint for the existing service, with one big change.

In recent years, instructions have had a QR code on the front page. Those can now be scanned for a flat rate of 20 points per set, and that’s the same worldwide. It’s still nowhere as good as shopping for your LEGO sets in official stores or on LEGO.com but for anyone who’s been saving their instruction booklets, it’s time to get scanning.

The idea behind this benefit is that you can now earn points no matter where you shop, but you’ll always earn more from official LEGO stores. It’s a strong start to LEGO Insiders and it’s good to know that for longtime LEGO VIP members, it’s otherwise exactly the same.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.

Has anything actually changed? I don’t see any differences. :/
