LEGO Johnny Thunder’s rumoured return may come with changes

More details on Johnny Thunder’s rumoured return via LEGO City this summer have surfaced, including some reported changes to his design.

Following the initial rumour that LEGO Adventurer’s Johnny Thunder will feature in the rumoured LEGO City jungle range in summer 2024, Instagram childish_landino_chronicles reports that part of the characters’ design will change and others may borrow aspects from 71025 Series 19’s Jungle Explorer minifigure.

According to the user, the face and hat of the new Johnny Thunder minifigure will be similar to the Jungle Explorer, though not the same and the torso will be closer to that of the original minifigure. The only major differences in the torso between the original Johnny Thunder and Jungle Explorer minifigures are the scarf covering the chest, the darker brown used and the lack of a revolver.

It’s believed that the revolver will be missing from the new minifigure, as it was with the Jungle Explorer though the adventurer may not need it when exploring the jungles of LEGO City. It’s also rumoured that the legs will be unprinted, as is usually the case with LEGO City minifigures.

While these changes may seem significant, especially regarding the revolver, they mostly follow the precedent set by 71025 Series 19’s Jungle Explorer. The lack of printing on the legs may be disappointing, but LEGO City minifigures rarely feature such detail.

Johnny Thunder is currently rumoured to feature in three LEGO City jungle sets reported for summer 2024 and you can click here to find out more about this rumour. Take all rumours with caution until official information is announced.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
