LEGO Jurassic World turns 10 as LEGO dinosaurs find a way
With LEGO Jurassic World reaching its 10th anniversary today, the decade-long theme’s dinosaur inhabitants continue to thrive and evolve.
It may be hard to believe, but the LEGO Jurassic World theme has been around for a decade now, with May 1, 2025 marking its 10th anniversary. During that time we’ve seen sets based on all of the existing films in the long-runing dino series, along with Chaos Theory models from the spin-off animated TV show and even a LEGO Jurassic World video game.
The good news is that there’s no sign of the LEGO Jurassic World theme slowing down anytime soon, with six new builds based on the upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth due to launch on June 1, ahead of the movie arriving on big screens globally from July 6, 2025.

Although LEGO Jurassic World continues to go from strength-to-strength, it wasn’t the first dedicated theme to feature moulded dino models. A handful of single-colour prehistoric creatures previously popped up in the likes of LEGO Adventurers: Dino Island in 2000, followed by LEGO Dinosaurs in 2001, the latter debuting with a range of adult and baby versions of the beasts, but no minifigures.

The main creatures in LEGO Dinosaurs included additional parts for building alternative models, with each set coming with an instruction manual with a page that featured a prehistoric landscape on it, providing somewhere for the beasts to be placed on.
Fast forward to 2005 and LEGO Dino Attack roamed the Earth (at least in the US and Australia), re-released in Europe five years later as LEGO Dino 2010, with a total of seven different sets and a cast of accompanying minifigure characters, and then there was LEGO Dino in 2012.

10 years after LEGO Jurassic World launched in 2015, the upcoming range of summer sets looks to be evolving once again, with a mix of moulded dinosaurs and a brick-built creature in the shape of 76974 Brick-Built Mosasaurus Boat Mission.

That’s something we’ve already discussed at great length here, stressing the importance of the LEGO Jurassic World theme to fully embrace more such brick-built creatures going forward, in order to tackle potential future price rises and eventual extinction.
That’s certainly been a winning formula for similar LEGO releases too, such as LEGO Creator 3-in-1 31058 Mighty Dinosaurs and 31151 T. rex, as well as LEGO 75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage.
Whether the LEGO Jurassic World theme will add more brick-built beasts to its line-up remains to be seen, but we suspect we’ll see many more dino creations to come in the next 10 years and beyond.
