LEGO The Lord of the Rings BrickHeadz box pays homage to original sets

The box art for 40630 Frodo and Gollum has been officially revealed, showcasing an homage to the original LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets.

Arriving in 2023, LEGO The Lord of the Rings is returning with at least three BrickHeadz sets soon and the United Arab Emirates storefront of LEGO.com has added 40630 Frodo & Gollum, showcasing more images of the upcoming creation.

The box art for this build may look familiar as it uses the same colour scheme and map background design as the original LEGO The Lord of the Rings models from both 2012 and 2013. It seems unlikely that this is just a coincidence as there are notable changes such as the map being more present in the BrickHeadz design.

It’s an appreciated reference for longtime fans of the theme, especially as these three LEGO The Lord of the Rings BrickHeadz are, at the time of writing, the only return to Middle-Earth since the 2014 Hobbit sets. Revitalising the classic box art for 2023 serves as an homage to the original theme.

As a reminder, here’s all three upcoming LEGO The Lord of the Rings BrickHeadz, with images available in our earlier report

LEGO set name Price Piece count Release date
40630 Frodo & Gollum TBC 184 TBC
40631 Gandalf the Grey & Balrog TBC 348 TBC
40632 Aragorn & Arwen TBC 261 TBC

Rumours for another, more expensive LEGO The Lord of the Rings set have also surfaced, but those are unconfirmed at the time of writing.
