LEGO Marvel 76251 Star-Lord’s Helmet officially revealed

LEGO Marvel’s helmet collection will expand on April 1 with 76251 Star-Lord’s Helmet, a 602-piece build inspired by the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Just in time for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to premiere at the end of May, 76251 Star-Lord’s Helmet is the first LEGO Marvel build in this format since 2021’s 76187 Venom and 76199 Carnage, and the first Marvel helmet full stop since 2020’s 76165 Iron Man Helmet. It feels like an obvious candidate for the collection, though – especially with the threequel about to arrive in cinemas.

76251 Star-Lord’s Helmet will also land on shelves exactly one month after the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection’s three new additions, 75349 Captain Rex Helmet, 75350 Clone Commander Cody Helmet and 75351 Princess Leia (Boushh) Helmet. But despite having fewer pieces than any of those sets, it will actually have a higher RRP: £69.99 in the UK, $79.99 in the US and €79.99 in Europe.

That could make it a tough ask for all but diehard Guardians of the Galaxy fans, although the mix of large, printed and drum-lacquered gold elements surely has something to do with it. The huge slope used for the front of the mask appears to be printed, for instance, while the half-cylinders that frame the lower half of the helmet are pretty plastic-intensive.

Plus, according to the official images above, it can also double as a pencil pot. So, you know, there’s some added value there. (Maybe.)

Like its contemporaries across Marvel, Star Wars and DC, 76251 Star-Lord’s Helmet stands on a black plinth with printed plaque. You can pre-order it now with a shipping date of April 1, 2023, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be in cinemas from May 5, 2023.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
