Rumoured LEGO Marvel 76289 Surtur Battle minifigures surface

A rumoured LEGO Marvel Thor: Ragnarok set is now stated to include a pair of enticing Marvel Cinematic Universe minifigures and more.

Instagram user mtdbricks has shared more rumoured details for 76289 Surtur Battle, including two exclusive minifigures based on Thor: Ragnarok. The rumoured 245-piece 76289 Surtur Battle is said to feature two minifigures and the main model of a buildable Surtur figure.

The minifigures are believed to be Thor and a Fire Demon, both likely based on their appearances in the opening scene of Thor: Ragnarok as the entire set is rumoured to be. We only received a couple of LEGO Thor: Ragnarok sets near the release of the 2017 movie and they did not cover this scene or its characters, likely to avoid spoilers. According to this rumour, that’s all about to change this August.

The initial Thor: Ragnarok sets featured Thor as he appears later in the movie and this rumoured set could feature an entirely new minifigure without the modifications made on Sakaar. The Fire Demon minifigure would be brand new and possibly the most interesting of the duo, though army-building with them would be expensive.

Surtur being depicted as a buildable figure with around 245 pieces could be a great way to replicate the scale of his character and that piece count is similar to 76256 Ant-Man Construction Figure at 289 elements. Nothing in the Instagram user’s post sheds some light on the size of the rumoured 76289 Surtur Battle though.

For now, 76289 Surtur Battle is only a rumour and all unconfirmed details should be taken with caution. Many more LEGO Marvel models are rumoured for 2024 too.
