LEGO Marvel Miles Morales’ Mask has the same pros – and cons – as its sibling

Being a straight colour swap of a past LEGO Marvel mask, 76329 Miles Morales’ Mask succeeds and fails in the very same areas.

When we had 76285 Spider-Man’s Mask for review early last year, we named it a ‘surprising triumph’ – yet that’s not to say it didn’t have some pitfalls. The mix of printed pieces and stickers made it tricky and frustrating to make sure all the webs aligned, as well as some patchy sculpting issues when viewed from certain angles.

Now that reviews are coming out for its younger sibling, 76329 Miles Morales’ Mask – due for release on July 1 – it seems the second Spidey mask set is both succeeding and struggling in the same areas. Considering it’s virtually a copy of the 2024 set, only with different colours, that’s only to be expected.

76329 Miles Morales’ Mask is a lovely companion to last year’s Spider-Man mask, sharing the same realistic shaping and attractive patterns, but also the same gaps and ridges on the back, unfortunately,” wrote Brickset. “Part of me wishes the design had been refined between the duo, although I can see the advantages of identical sculpting if they are displayed together.”

They certainly do look good side by side and there’s a certain ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ mentality that YouTuber AshnFlash commended in his review.

“They’re literally the exact same sets, just in different colours, down to the piece count and everything” said AshnFlash. “It’s a really interesting decision and really smart.

“It’s something, specifically for the Helmets Collection we’ve been asking the LEGO Group to do for Star Wars, to actually release other Mandalorian helmets. I don’t get why they don’t do this for more sets.”

Indeed, it’s worth noting that the LEGO Group doesn’t always just churn out sets with new colours, adopting a whole new approach for 75408 Jango Fett Helmet five years on from 75277 Boba Fett Helmet, for example – despite it canonically being the very same helmet in a new colour.

The lack of updates doesn’t please everyone, however, with YouTuber Play Well originally giving 76285 Spider-Man’s Mask 8.5 out of 10 and dropping 76329 Miles Morales’ Mask to eight.

“The fact that it is the same design weighs on this decision, as does the fact that it keeps the same stickers and price,” the YouTuber reasoned.

76329 Miles Morales’ Mask could have been the prime opportunity to revisit some of the rougher areas of 76285 Spider-Man’s Mask, or take on fan feedback about the frustration around the integration of stickers and printed elements. While it doesn’t do much new, it still seems to have impressed early reviewers in the same way its predecessor did.

76329 Miles Morales’ Mask is available to pre-order now for the same price as 76285 Spider-Man’s Mask at £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99, ahead of its release on July 1.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
