Upcoming LEGO Marvel set includes comic book-inspired minifigure
A new Iron Man minifigure included in an upcoming LEGO Marvel set for summer 2023 appears to have comic book-based roots.
Four LEGO Marvel sets due to be launched this summer received a surprise reveal last week. 76249 Venomised Groot, 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle, 76263 Iron Man Hulkbuster vs. Thanos and 76266 Endgame Final Battle will all be arriving on August 1, with many including exciting new minifigure variants.

One such new iteration appears in 76263 Iron Man Hulkbuster vs. Thanos, with the 4+ build featuring a version of Tony Stark’s armoured alter ego that seems to have stepped straight out of the comic book page. Although not an identical interpretation, the look of the character appears to be mostly based on Iron Man’s Model 12 armour, as opposed to MCU-based suits.
The red and gold metal outfit first debuted in Iron Man # 290 back in January 1993 and is also referred to as the Telepresence Armour. There are certainly enough similarities between the original source material and the upcoming minifigure included in 76263 Iron Man Hulkbuster vs. Thanos, despite some subtle differences.
The new Iron Man minifigure may lack the red shoulder pads of the comic book version, but the helmet and facemask design are very close, as is the torso printing. There’s also a little more artistic licence on the legs, but the additional detail overall should make 76263 Iron Man Hulkbuster vs. Thanos’ minifigure a worthy addition to any LEGO Marvel fan’s collection.
