LEGO MASTERS is heading to Japan

LEGO MASTERS will welcome a new flurry of competing builders, coming to audiences in Japan sometime soon.

After success in 15 different countries, including the UK, the US, Germany, Australia, and more (although curiously not Denmark), LEGO MASTERS is now heading to Japan. The Japanese edition of the show will be produced by Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS), having originally been made by a collaboration between Tuesday’s Child Television and the LEGO Group.

“I am looking forward to working with Banijay Rights and not only learn about the production of the show, but also to closely examine the essence of creation behind it,” said TBS producer Aso Kunihiro in a prepared statement.

Other local adaptations have previously been aired in Asia, with MBC’s version in South Korea and Shenzhen TV’s Chinese season. Now, a new community of LEGO builders from across Japan will be able to try their hand in front of the judges. Each season of LEGO MASTERS gets its own set of judges and presenter, unique to that country and language. We can only assume Japan will see the same, but there’s no word on who that will be just yet.

“We are so excited that families in Japan will have an opportunity to enjoy this global phenomenon,” said Michael Ebbesen, GM of Lego Japan. “LEGO MASTERS celebrates LEGO building at its very best – creative, ingenious, great teamwork and lots and lots of fun. We are looking forward to inspiring Japanese builders of all ages.”
