LEGO Botanicals Mini Bonsai Trees are perfectly scaled for custom displays

The newly revealed LEGO Botanicals 10373 Mini Bonsai Trees look to be the perfect scale to incorporate them in displays far beyond the obvious.

Although 10373 Mini Bonsai Trees have not yet been seen in hand, the lifestyle images give a sense of the scale for the trio of brick-built plants. Standing around 19cm high according to the official listing, the LEGO Botanicals set has been pictured next to 10344 Lucky Bamboo, which measures 28cm.

With the typical minifigure standing just four centimetres high, that allows us to estimate how big a minifigure will stand next to the upcoming release, as pictured below.

That puts 10373 Mini Bonsai Trees at virtually the perfect scale to use as trees in minifigure-scaled displays. The ginkgo bonsai tree and its yellow leaves offers an autumnal feel, the black pine bonsai tree with its green needles is asking to be put in an evergreen LEGO Castle display, while the wisteria bonsai tree with its hanging lilac flowers is all about springtime flowers.

LEGO trees in larger sets rarely have this level of detail, but with the focus in 10373 Mini Bonsai Trees obviously being on the plants themselves, these models can bring the foliage and natural life in your sets to life. Some sets in particular that would work well to pair with include 10332 Medieval Town Square, which has some prime spots in front of the inn and by the vegetable patch where the trees could be added.

You would of course need to remove them from the brick-built pots they come in, but the fact that the trees appear to clip into the pots means they should be able to connect to any set, so long as there’s some sort of base. This could help to expand the reach of the already-popular LEGO Botanicals theme, expanding the scope of the brick-built plants even further.

10373 Mini Bonsai Trees will be available to buy from August 1, retailing at £54.99 / $64.99 / €59.99.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
