LEGO mini NINJAGO City Insiders rewards review

After several months, all four microscale NINJAGO City modular sets are available for LEGO Insiders at a reduced cost – here’s how they line up.

Over the course of 2024 the LEGO Group has released four special microscale versions of the four giant NINJAGO City modular sets as rewards available exclusively at the LEGO Insiders Rewards Centre.

After much scrutiny on the relatively high price in Insiders points required to redeem each of these, they are now available for a reduced points tally of 1,800 points each (a reduction of 900 points per set). It takes a spend of £225 to earn 1,800 Insiders points (not including double Insiders points events), whilst that amount of points can otherwise be used to redeem £11.25 off a purchase at LEGO.com or in LEGO Stores.

So it’s still not super cheap to pick up all four, particularly with all of them available at the same time, but that availability does mean we can line them all up together for a closer look.

And as a collection, 40703 Micro NINJAGO City, 40704 Micro NINJAGO Docks, 40705 Micro NINJAGO City Gardens and 40706 Micro NINJAGO City Markets really do come together nicely for a colourful, busy and interesting display worthy of their much bigger counterparts. Each one is very interesting and quite thorough to build with plenty of details and call-backs to their larger versions worked into their design.

As is the case with the larger versions too, the fact that they are a collection that comes together for an even better combined line-up is definitely part of the appeal too – and the expense.

This collection of four LEGO Insiders rewards is still not cheap, with a combined total of 7,200 points required to redeem them, which is the equivalent of a £900 spend on LEGO.com or LEGO Store products in the first place, and otherwise matched by the option to take £45 off a future purchase.

If you have points to burn, or particularly see the merit in this collection (and together they are stronger and they do look good on display) then there’s something here. Otherwise, the points tally required is perhaps still a little on the high side, all told.

40703 Micro NINJAGO City, 40704 Micro NINJAGO Docks, 40705 Micro NINJAGO City Gardens and 40706 Micro NINJAGO City Markets are each currently available at the LEGO Insiders reward centre for 1,800 Insiders points.
