LEGO Minifigures Series 26 scannable codes verified for North America

LEGO Minifigures Series 26 is starting to appear in the US and Brick Search has verified the scannable codes on the packaging, meaning you can again scan for specific characters without opening the box.

LEGO Minifigures Series 26 is set for release on May 1 and, like the previous two series of minifigures, comes in blind cardboard boxes. The LEGO Group introduced square, QR-style data matrix codes midway through production for Series 25, and these were able to be scanned with the Brick Search app to reveal what was inside the box without the need to open it.

It was previously confirmed that the data matrix codes were returning for Series 26 on boxes produced and distributed in Europe, before a set of different codes seemed to emerge in the US, presumably for the North American/ROW market.

Now, Brick Search can confirm the validity of these US/ROW codes having independently verified them, meaning that once more the codes on the base of the box correspond to specific minifigures inside. These US/ROW codes have now been programmed into the Brick Search app so that from right now you can use the app’s minifigure scanner in the US, Canada and selected regions in the rest of the world to scan the underside of Series 26 Minifigures packaging to identify what minifigure is inside without opening the box!

What about UK/EU LEGO Minifigures Series 26 codes?

Brick Search is working to verify the codes for the UK and EU region and expects to have this completed by next week – and the UK/EU codes programmed into the app – ahead of Series 26’s official launch on May 1.

As soon as the UK/EU codes are verified and programmed into the app we will update you again.

What’s next for LEGO Minifigures Series 26?

LEGO Minifigures Series 26 isn’t officially released for another couple of weeks but evidently some stores have gone early and so the blind boxes are appearing on the shelves already, at least in the US.

Codes in the North America/ROW region are verified and programmed into the Brick Search app now, so if you find any on shelves in the US, Canada or selected regions around the world from now, you will be able to scan the underside of the box to identify which minifigure is inside without having to open it.

UK/EU codes are in the process of being verified by Brick Search before also being added to the app – expect this to be completed next week, at which point UK and EU-based LEGO fans will also be able to scan Series 26 Minifigures to identify each character inside. When the UK/EU codes are verified we will run another update.

May 1 remains the official release date for LEGO Minifigures Series 26, so that is when they will be made widely available, in-store and online.

By that date all codes worldwide will be verified and added to the Brick Search app, so LEGO fans everywhere will be able to scan and identify Series 26 Minifigures with ease.

How do I scan minifigures?

Scanning for minifigures is straightforward. Once you have downloaded Brick Search – here for iOS devices and here for Android – just open the app and then open the scanner, the blue button at the bottom.

Line up the data matrix code with the frame in the scanner, then wait a few seconds for the scanner to read the code. That’s it!

The video below shows the scanner in action. If you’re having trouble, try covering up the barcode and double-check your internet connection. Still struggling? Try the troubleshooting FAQs.

You can download Brick Search for iOS devices here, or for Android devices here. Readers on a desktop computer can also scan the QR code below with a mobile device to be taken to the right app store.

Codes in different regions?

Series 25 saw two different regions have different scannable codes – one set for the US/ROW and another for UK/EU – and that appears to be the case again. Brick Search has verified and programmed the US/ROW codes into the app, meaning LEGO fans in those regions can now scan Series 26 Minifigures with Brick Search to identify who is inside each box. Brick Search is close to verifying and programming the UK/EU codes and expects to have this process completed by next week.

We of course don’t yet know if there are only two regions again – North America and UK/EU – or indeed if there is more than one set of codes per region, so we’ll keep an eye out for any more codes from anywhere else. And if you think you’ve found different codes, get in touch!

Brick Search won’t scan for me – what do I do?

If the app is still not working for you, please get in touch with Andrew at [email protected]. Perhaps the code is misprinted, or maybe you’ve found some previously identified codes! In any case, we can help.

Verifying other codes – how you can help

We want to be certain we’ve got the right codes in the app before we go broadcasting it so we’re just waiting to verify the UK/EU codes for Series 26. We’ll have them before the May 1 release date, though, so you’ll be able to scan Series 26 boxes from the official launch day in any case.

Wherever you are in the world, Brick Search can work for you – if you think you’ve found new codes that the app doesn’t yet recognise then please let us know by emailing [email protected]. We can help work out the codes for each minifigure and then add them to our app. This goes a long way to helping the wider LEGO community that is using Brick Search to continue to find the minifigures they want.

When we are sure we’ve got the right codes, we’ll also update users via push notifications in the app. If you don’t have push notifications on or you haven’t downloaded Brick Search yet, you can keep updated via Instagram or X, or head to the Brick Search home page for more information. We’ll also be starting a Brick Search newsletter soon, so get in touch on [email protected] if you want to be added to the mailing list!
