LEGO Modular Building collectors could be in for a treat later this year

A surprise rumour for LEGO Ideas paired with one for LEGO Icons may be a sign for Modular Building enthusiasts to get excited for later this year.

A new rumour from Instagram user Brick Clicker posits that 21353 Botanical Garden could be arriving on November 1, 2024, with 3,792 pieces. That potentially puts it just before the next official entry in the LEGO Modular Buildings Collection, according to another rumour.

Rumours reported by Polish fan site FanKlockow, via brick_clicker, state that a LEGO Icons set with the set number 10350 is due for release on December 1, 2024. In 2023, 10326 Natural History Museum was released a month earlier than expected – December 2023 instead of January 2024. It was believed that the museum would be the 2024 modular building and while it may still be considered that officially, there’s no denying that it was released in 2023.

Should the 10350 rumour be true, the odd timing of its release could indicate that the LEGO Group are changing the release schedule for Modular Buildings to launch one month earlier than is traditionally the case. Provided that this is the case, which it may not be, that could mean that 21353 Botanical Garden releases one month before the next Modular Building.

It’s worth noting this rumour as Valentina Bima’s original project was designed to be compatible with the ongoing range of buildings, though whether that will be changed for the final design on shelves has yet to be seen. Still, it’s an exciting possibility for those who collect the range and you might need a bigger budget than expected later this year.

Nothing is confirmed for the LEGO Ideas set or the next Modular Building but it could be an exciting coincidence to quickly expand the brick-built street. Alternatively, this possibility could be too good to be true and it’s too early to say at the time of writing.

Either way, you’ll surely be able to expand your modular display with at least one building either later this year or in early 2025, as long as the LEGO Group sticks to long-running traditions.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
