LEGO Movie director reacts to star’s new Super Mario casting

The director of The LEGO Movie has shared their reaction to seeing two of the movie’s stars receiving a role in the Super Mario animated film.

Chris Miller, one half of the directing duo for the LEGO Movie has taken to Twitter after hearing the news that Chris Pratt and Charlie Day, who portrayed Emmet and Benny, will be playing a more familiar pair of plumbers in the Super Mario movie.

For those unaware, the latest Nintendo Direct revealed exactly who will be bringing the iconic characters of the Mushroom Kingdom to life on the silver screen. You can read the full list for yourself here but to summarise, Chris Pratt and Charlie Day will be voicing Mario and Luigi.

With the duo now embarking on another animated outing, Chris Miller decided to create his rendition of what he thinks the cinematic version of the plumbers could look like by plastering the familiar gloves, moustaches and hats onto Benny and Emmet.

With The LEGO Movie minifigures now transformed into Mario and Luigi, we wonder how long it will be before the physical LEGO Super Mario controllers are given a makeover to depict the minifigure characters.

The Super Mario movie is currently scheduled to release on December 31 2022 in the US, and the most recent range of LEGO Super Mario has introduced Luigi just in time for the casting announcement. You can read our full review to find out more about 71387 Adventures with Luigi Starter Course.
