LEGO NINJAGO's new Duskfall project has received its first full trailer, allowing us to compare the animation to the models and spot something else we need.
Following an early release at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, LEGO NINJAGO: Legends Duskfall's first trailer is now available to watch, unveiling what has inspired the three tie-in sets on shelves now. You can watch the trailer by clicking below.
Duskfall is due to be released in September, and its three models are out right now, or they will be on August 1 in the US. In the meantime, here's how the animated scenes compare to the recent builds.
71870 The Twin Titan Mechs
71870 The Twin Titan Mechs features two mech models that can be piloted by Kai and Nya, or Jin and Mira. We see them piloted by the former two characters in the trailer, and possibly Mira at the end. The mech models compare favourably to their animated form.
They are more stylised in the trailer, but you can still easily tell which mech is which. It's not just the colour scheme that sets them apart. Kai's mech has the golden arm guards and Nya's is wielding the staff. One of them is even equipped with the jetpack.
71871 Battle at the Dragon's Blade
We know that the source behind 71871 Battle at the Dragon's Blade is in Duskfall, but you won't spot this scene in the new trailer. It was featured briefly in a previous teaser, though.
The scene features the same dragon perched on the edge of a giant sword coming out of the skull's mouth, just as we can see in 71871 Battle at the Dragon's Blade. How this moment comes to be in Duskfall is not yet known.
71872 Ultra Dragon's Battle
The trailer features multiple shots of the moment that has inspired 71872 Ultra Dragon's Battle, and it has some of the most substantial differences between it and the trailer in the three Duskfall sets. The biggest is that the Great Devourer in 71872 Ultra Dragon's Battle is much smaller than it appears in the trailer.
The Ultra Dragon in 71872 Ultra Dragon's Battle is also far more humanoid than that of the trailer. The battleground is considerably more man-made, with the skyscrapers of NINJAGO City, rather than the landscape and gate we see in 71872 Ultra Dragon's Battle.
What we need next
At one point in the new trailer, we see Kai's mech being shot out of a floating fortress with a vertical design. We look forward to getting a closer look at this flying base in Duskfall, as it would make for an interesting LEGO NINJAGO set that further deviates from the theme's norms.
