LEGO NINJAGO Shatterspin #2 comic reveals new villain

The cover for the second issue of the LEGO NINJAGO Shatterspin comic has been revealed, potentially showcasing a new villain for the series.

Bleeding Cool has revealed the cover for the second issue of LEGO NINJAGO Shatterspin along with more details of the story featuring Garmadon. The new comic series will see a young Garmadon journeying to the realm where 71813 Wolf Mask Shadow Dojo is located to find a power that could turn the tide of the Serpentine War. The first issue launches on May 22, 2024, for $3.99.

The narrative for the second issue includes Garmadon training new students as they face off against the Lycan King. Judging by the cover, the Lycan King appears to be a giant wolf and Garmadon appears to have five students with red markings on their faces, similar to Akita from Season 11 of the series.

Given that this comic series is a prequel that ties into the second season of LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising, the Lycan King could be Ras’ master that has been teased in LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising. Alternatively, it could be a one-off villain for the comic similar to what we saw in the first LEGO NINJAGO comic series from Skybound Entertainment and Tri Vuong.#

The 32-page second issue of LEGO NINJAGO Shatterspin releases on June 26 for $3.99 and there will be five issues of LEGO NINJAGO Shatterspin in total. The release schedule so far suggests that there will be a new issue every month until September.

The latest wave of LEGO NINJAGO sets launched earlier this month including 71813 Wolf Mask Shadow Dojo as well as models released at the start of 2024 featuring 71809 Egalt the Master Dragon. The character featured in the latter is highlighted in a new clip for the second season of the animated series.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
