LEGO NINJAGO 2024 technically has a Legends of Chima set

The latest clip for LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising Season has confirmed a connection to Legends of Chima, technically extending to a new set too.

Following a brief teaser for LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising Season 2 earlier this week, the first full clip from the season has been revealed by the LEGO Group on YouTube. It features Ras and Jordana journeying through a new location to a familiar building. While you watch, listen to what Ras says closely.

Ras explains that where they are is the Wyldness realm, which does not just consist of a lava-filled landscape as seen in the first season of Dragons Rising. He names several other locations within the realm including the Diamon Glaciers, Boiling Beach and the Forever Rock. For the unaware, the latter is a specific location from the Legends of Chima, which is already a canon realm in the world of NINJAGO.

This confirms that Chima is in the Wyldness realm or that it is another name for it, revealing that Lord Ras could be from Chima or at least from the same realm. This was theorised and speculated by NINJAGO enthusiasts, but it’s great to have confirmation as the theme lives on through NINJAGO.

The concept of Chima being just one part of a bigger world was introduced at the end of the Legends of Chima series as the region was revealed to be a floating island above a much wider area with varying landscapes.

This also means that the next wave of LEGO NINJAGO technically has a Legends of Chima set (or a set located in the same realm as Chima). 71813 Wolf Mask Shadow Dojo is featured at the end of the new clip, within the Forest of Spirits. As explained previously, this means that the dojo is in the same realm as Chima and technically makes its corresponding LEGO set part of the retired theme as well as NINJAGO.

Of course, 71813 Wolf Mask Shadow Dojo is a LEGO NINJAGO set through and through but the connection to Legends of Chima is now undeniable. This could also be a sign that – following the Merge – the theme could return through NINJAGO in other ways in the future.

For now, the retired theme is officially back and has been back for a while thanks to Lord Ras and it will be interesting to see what happens in the second season of LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising following this revelation. The new season is coming this April and the next sets launch on March 1. You can find out more about them by clicking here.
