LEGO helped Jennifer Lawrence’s No Hard Feelings co-star cope with Broadway role
Andrew Barth Feldman – who co-stars with Jennifer Lawrence in new R-rated comedy No Hard Feelings – says he coped with his breakout Broadway role by building LEGO sets.
The 21-year-old actor landed a year-long role in Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway in 2019, but was still in high school at the time. He lived at home during those months, balancing daytime tutoring with nights on the stage, an experience he described to USA Today as ‘painful and beautiful’ – not least because he lost his mother to cancer around the same time.
“My amazing mum encouraged me to stay on Long Island while I was doing Evan Hansen,“ Feldman told USA Today while discussing No Hard Feelings. “Every Evan had the same driver, José, who’s a legend and would come pick me up. So I had these very long drives there to sort of put my brain in manual mode.

“Then I’d get home really late and build LEGO before I went to sleep. It was really, really hard doing that [show], but without it, I couldn’t have done this movie.”
Feldman also revealed his passion for Star Wars – he celebrated May the 4th in middle school by dressing up as General Grievous – and that he’s currently campaigning for a role on the Galactic Starcruiser hotel at Walt Disney World before it closes for good in September.
While it’s probably not too surprising to see someone who was in high school at the time join the ever-growing list of celebrity LEGO fans, you can now watch No Hard Feelings – which sees Lawrence’s 32-year-old Uber driver agree to date Feldman’s 19-year-old introvert in exchange for a car – while knowing that LEGO played a part (however small) in getting Feldman that role.
