LEGO One Piece references that manga and LEGO fans will love

Look through the five new LEGO One Piece sets and you’ll find some thoughtful references to everything from the anime to LEGO Pirate history.

Five new LEGO One Piece sets are coming in August, based on the Netflix adaptation of the manga and long-running anime series. These new sets cover everything from the Going Merry to the grand floating restaurant of Baratie, but look deeper in the official images and you’re sure to find some great Easter eggs.

Here are all of the Easter eggs we’ve spotted so far, including one referencing LEGO Pirates specifically. The new One Piece models launch on August 1.

The surfboard menu

One small feature of 75636 Windmill Village Hut greatly increases the appeal of the flashback build, beyond its array of exclusive minifigures. Partys bar may be small in the set, but it includes the stylish surfboard menu, made using a few stickers to get the details just right.

This matches the menu seen in the series, with a closer look showcased over on X. The stickers recreate everything from the outfit to the curved palm trees to the font, and it’s a design that is likely to be useful for LEGO displays beyond that of One Piece.

The bounty board

Keeping to 75636 Windmill Village Hut, an official image shared following the reveal of LEGO One Piece showcased the collection of bounty posters available randomly throughout the sets, but little did we know the display used to showcase them is actually included in the smallest build.

75636 Windmill Village Hut has a notice board to store the bounty posters you collect, complete with a sticker not featured in official imagery. It allows you to display the posters in a settlement, much like they would be in One Piece for pirates to admire and grow jealous of.

A familiar map

Moving beyond the world of One Piece, 75638 Battle at Arlong Park‘s main pagoda has an interesting sticker on the wall, showcasing a map that doesn’t match any landmass on either side of the grand or red lines.

Instead, Arlong has managed to track down a map directly from the world of LEGO Pirates. It’s a touching reference to the original LEGO Pirates theme and, while the designers have tried to throw us off by splitting the map across two pieces of paper in the sticker, the letter, ship, compass and anchor all confirm that this is the familiar map.

Red-Leg Zeff

The interior of 75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant is likely holding a few more references than we can see in official images, but some paintings on the walls have been confirmed to be references to Zeff’s past as the pirate Red-Leg Zeff on the official online store.

It’s a great reference for fans of the anime and manga to appreciate, and it will be interesting to see what else 75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant is holding when the set launches on August 1 for £269.99 / $329.99 / €299.99.

The Hitsugibune

75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant is home to a second build as well, recreating Mihawk’s small but intimidating Hitsugibune ship. The iconic shape of the coffin ship, complete with the candles, is depicted using a relatively small number of pieces.

While the build isn’t huge, the fictional craft isn’t either, emphasising Mihawk’s considerable strength as a one-man army who only needs space for himself and his huge sword when heading into battle.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
