LEGO Pirates is back in newly-revealed LEGO House 40504 A Minifigure Tribute

The LEGO House team has unveiled this year’s exclusive set, 40504 A Minifigure Tribute, which celebrates the 45th anniversary of LEGO minifigures by bringing back LEGO Pirates.

Swashbuckling minifigures last appeared on shelves in the now-retired 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay, and 40504 A Minifigure Tribute builds into an ode to the greatest LEGO pirate of them all: Captain Redbeard. It’s a large-scale minifigure constructed in the same style as 76393 Harry Potter & Hermione Granger, complete with the captain’s iconic hook hand and peg leg. He’s perched atop a brown board, which sits on a black base, mirroring previous LEGO House exclusives.

And as per 40503 Dagny Holm – Master Builder, 40502 The Brick Moulding Machine and so on, you’ll only be able to buy 40504 A Minifigure Tribute by visiting the LEGO House in Billund, Denmark. The 1,041-piece set is due to go on sale there from March 1, and will retail for 599 DKK. That’s roughly equivalent to £71 / $85 / €80.

Just like the actual Captain Redbeard minifigure, 40504 A Minifigure Tribute includes a black hat with the ‘Jolly Roger’ emblem, epaulettes on his shoulders and his signature eyepatch and red beard. According to the press release, the model also includes a LEGO House bracelet for his hook hand, and a treasure map that contains ‘a secret reference to the designers behind the product’.

“Can you imagine LEGO play and the LEGO House without the minifigure? I can’t!” said LEGO House Managing Director Kathrine Kirk Muff. “The tiny, charming figure, just four LEGO bricks tall, is a standing invitation to LEGO fans of all ages as an empowering tool to tell unlimited stories.

“To highlight a significant part of the LEGO Group history – the invention of the minifigure – this year’s exclusive LEGO House product simply had to be a tribute to the minifigure. The minifigure can be found everywhere in LEGO House, not least in the Character Creator and World Explorer play experiences. We also started the 2023 season with a photo exhibition where the minifigure was at the centre.”

40504 A Minifigure Tribute is the fourth set in a series of LEGO House exclusives, which also includes 40501 The Wooden Duck, 40502 The Brick Moulding Machine and 40503 Dagny Holm – Master Builder.
