LEGO Star Wars 2024 selection is all about collections

LEGO Star Wars is putting a huge focus on expanding existing collections for its 25th anniversary, adding to three older-aimed ranges in one year.

From starships to droids, LEGO Star Wars’ first half of the year is proving to be busy following the reveal of the May 2024 models. Many of these new sets aren’t isolated though and are just a small part of a larger collection that has been ongoing for many years.

While we wait for the next LEGO Star Wars sets to launch, here’s where some of the latest LEGO Star Wars models fit in the theme’s 18+ collections, leaving just the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection and the Ultimate Collector Series unexpanded at the time of writing.

Starship Collection

The LEGO Star WarsStarship Collection has had its biggest update ever in 2024 with the addition of 75375 Millennium Falcon, 75376 Tantive IV and 75377 Invisible Hand. The collection previously only had one model and these three sets have established the range as a fully-fledged collection.

Diorama Collection

The LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection is only scheduled to expand in a small way later this year. The release of 75380 Mos Espa Podrace Diorama on May 1 will add the first diorama based on the prequel trilogy to the range, taking a page out of 75329 Death Star Trench Run Diorama‘s book too.

Droid Collection

Though it has yet to be officially coined, there’s little doubt that the LEGO Group has been continuously expanding the range of brick-built droid models no matter the scale. In 2024, both 75379 R2-D2 and 75381 Droideka join this droid collection, identified by the droid model, minifigure-sized figure and informative plaque.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
