LEGO Star Wars 2026 rumours make one retiring set that much more urgent

LEGO Star Wars rumours for 2026 include two well-trodden ships – but the expected prices suggest a worrying future for some staples of the theme.

The latest LEGO Star Wars rumours, coming via a.clay.brick on Instagram, claim that March 1 will see the launch of 75421 Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced, said to cost $69.99 for 473 pieces, and 75423 Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing, said to cost $99.99 for 684 pieces. Those are some pretty hefty price per piece ratios and, while that’s not always the best way to evaluate the prices of LEGO sets, it does paint a worrying picture.

Breaking it down, the most recent way to get versions of both of those ships is 75393 TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up. While that set includes a TIE Fighter, rather than the Advanced model, the basic structure remains the same. At $109.99 for 1063 pieces, that’s $59 less for just 94 fewer pieces.

With such similar piece counts, we can perhaps expect similar scales and build experiences for the 2026 ships, but getting the iconic duo of Rebel and Imperial ships will cost you a fair amount more. When we had 75393 TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up for review, we were impressed by the modern build techniques that brought something fresh to the well-trodden ground of the ships – but even then we had reservations on price.

As similar sized models are rumoured to go up in price, if you don’t already own a TIE and an X-Wing and think you’ll want them as part of your collection, the urgency is rising to add them to your collection sooner rather than later. While you can rest assured that these ships will come back to the LEGO Star Wars theme time and again, the pricing of sets from a brick-built galaxy far, far away means that waiting longer will likely mean you get far less bang for your buck.

Rather than relying on LEGO Star Wars to deliver better and better versions of your favourites, perhaps the smarter move is to get ahead now before you’re priced out. If you do want to get ahead and purchase 75393 TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up before it retires at the end of this year, it’s currently even better value at Amazon in the UK, reduced by 29% to just £66.99.

LEGO Star Wars 75431 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers Battle Pack review 1 1024x683

It’s a worrying indication for the future of the theme that could trickle down into other staples. We’re seeing low value in long-term favourites like battle packs, as addressed in our review of 75431 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers Battle Pack. When the basics of any LEGO Star Wars collection become too expensive or too low-value for the average buyer, where will people start out?

The rumoured details should be taken with a pinch of salt for now, but, with the dust still settling from what many deemed one of the most overpriced LEGO Star Wars waves ever, they’re certainly a worrying indication of where the future of LEGO Star Wars is going.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.

If the prices keep going up it will just fuel the knockoffs to profit more as they are making better and better bricks everyday and look just as good
