LEGO Star Wars 30497 First Order Heavy Assault Walker review

The first polybag LEGO set based on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, 30497 First Order Heavy Assault Walker, has been released – is it worth putting in a Force Friday II order to get the freebie?

Price: Free with purchase Pieces: 54 Available: Now

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will continue the battle between the First Order and the Resistance, with the former packing some serious war machines. The Heavy Assault Walker is the upgrade to the AT-AT, showing the passage of the time as designs in the saga look familiar, yet different.

The AT-AT has of course been adapted in small scale a number of times by the LEGO Group, so by now the designers know what works. In this case, the legs use simple clips that allow them to be posed to an extent and give the impression that the Heavy Assault Walker is… walking.

The main body of the vehicle is a simple enough two stud wide construction, although the black clip tiles at the back look rather oversized and protruding when compared to 75189 First Order Heavy Assault Walker.

The most appealing aspect of 30497 First Order Heavy Assault Walker, is that it is free. Any order placed at during the Force Friday II weekend, September 1 to 3, gets a free copy of the polybag thrown in. With the much anticipated LEGO Star Wars: The Last Jedi range available, it is the perfect time for the LEGO Group to drop a neat little mini build.
