LEGO Star Wars Baby Yoda statue coming to Disney Springs

Fans visiting Disney Springs, the shopping and dining district at Orlando’s Disney World resort, will be able to admire a new statue of The Child today.

A giant LEGO build of Baby Yoda, the beloved character from Star Wars: The Mandalorian, is launching at Disney Springs, Orlando, Florida, today. The model was first unveiled during the first episode of Mando Mondays, a merchandise focused series from the official Star Wars social media team.

To see the segment focused on this build, head to the 22 minute 30 second mark.

LEGO Master Model Builder Peter Donner is responsible for the detailed statue. “We actually use a piece of software that LEGO created internally, it’s called Brick Builder, and that gives us a rudimentary building instruction. So we take a 3D object, turn it into a brick model, and then that gices us what we call a cat scan layer by layer view,” he explains.

“But it’s not like the instructions, it doesn’t tell you necessarily what brick to put, it just tells you the outer shape of the model, so that’s where the Master Builder’s experience and skills to put the right bricks in the right spot.”

The video also features 75318 The Child coming together.
