LEGO Star Wars’ boxes have become a lot more organised

As Star Wars introduces more projects from across its timeline, LEGO Star Wars boxes have adapted to differentiate between several series.

The 2022 range of LEGO Star Wars sets opted for a design change, featuring angular designs and the occasional minifigure in the corner of every box. This has persisted in 2023 and there seems to be a clear reason for this shift.

As the world of Star Wars expands with more series on Disney+, animated and live-action, the characters on the bottom left of boxes serves to remind people looking at shelves what that set is based on, whether it be standalone or part of a collection.

Looking at them together, the varying colour schemes and minifigures help each stand out, but in a uniform pattern. Whether intentional or not on the LEGO Group’s part, it’s the same with Ahsoka’s 75357 Ghost & Phantom II.

It’s worth noting that every character in the corner of boxes is available physically, apart from Ahsoka. While nothing has been officially confirmed, it suggests that at least one more Ahsoka model is on the way and that this will be a real minifigure. Rumour has it that this is the case.

Exactly how long this branding will continue is unknown but it’s a good way to differentiate between sets based on various series. With The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew and multiple movies confirmed, there may be a reason for this box design to stick around and keep things clear in the theme.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
